The Calthorpe Clinic and the managing organisation known as Fraterdrive Limited is a family-owned business providing abortions and sexual health services. The Clinic was founded by the late Dr Philip Cauthery and Dr Martin Cole following the 1967 Abortion Act. The organisation’s founding ethos was based on the belief that a person has a right to limit their family and that their privacy, dignity and religious beliefs are to be respected. This ethos continues to be the backbone of our company values. For over 40 years, we have provided abortions and sexual health services to thousands of women each year, in accordance with the 1967 Abotion Act.

Patient Charter
We aim to treat you with kindness, skill and sympathetic consideration in a safe and pleasant environment.
This means that:
We will respect your privacy, dignity, and religious beliefs.
You will be offered a specific appointment time. We aim to see all patients within 30 minutes of their appointment. Sometimes unavoidable delays may occur. If you have to wait longer than 30 minutes at any time, an explanation will be given to you.
You will be informed of the name and role of the staff involved in your treatment and care.
You will be given a clear explanation of your abortion options, including any possible complications, before you decide to proceed. We suggest that if you have any questions you write them down and bring them to the clinic and a member of our clinic team will answer these for you.
You may see your own records. An administration fee for this may be charged.
We will keep all information relating to you and your treatment completely confidential. If you are under 18 years and we suspect that you are a victim of abuse or that you are in danger then we initiate our safeguarding procedures. This will be discussed with you.
Complaints will be investigated thoroughly. We will acknowledge any complaint within 7 working days and you will receive a full written response within 28 days.
